The Cranbrook curling rink opened with celebration despite fickle weather. Five Cranbrook rinks, plus Kimberley and Bull River entries, played a set of five games in a grand parade led by pipe music. Fernie teams could not attend due to conditions.
The season brings Father Christmas to town with Thursday stop at Fink Mercantile for a kiddie crowd. Next week he will visit three Sunday schools on Tuesday for Christmas trees and entertainments. The G W V A Christmas tree is planned Tuesday afternoon at the G W V A Hall with all names on record.
The Chinaman from Fort Steele charged with a heinous offence against a young girl will appear Monday for a preliminary hearing before Magistrate Lensk.
On Monday and Tuesday evenings the Home Town Band led by Mr. W. A. Burton presented two brief concerts for Star patrons. The bandsmen wore new purple and gold uniforms and their music drew loud applause.
