Cranbrook merchants showcase extensive Christmas preparations with jewelry, china, wines, clothing, and gifts. Raworth Bros and Fink Mercantile lead displays as dealers tout imported goods, home wares, and festive window dressing for Cranbrook shoppers.
Youngsters from public schools will perform December 20 and 21 at the Auditorium with a program featuring a 4 cantata Santa Claus and His Friends tableaux dances drills marches and specialties. The cast includes leaders of Doll Drills and a long list of nurses pupils in Doll Drill and picanninies with numerous named participants.
The Herald appeals for donations to brighten Christmas for four or five city children and one nearby case. Donations will be distributed through recognized charity workers, with a goal of providing gifts from Santa Claus. An upcoming floral drills event under Mr. Geo P D Ingram promises a thoroughly enjoyable show as crowds are urged to secure seats early.
The Kootenay Central railway will soon reach Fort Steele with steel laid in. On December 26 Dr. Watt will drive home the final spike in a joyous Fort Steele ceremony. Cranbrook residents are invited to join the celebration and admire a special gilded spike crafted by Mr. McNulty for the occasion.
The Kootenay Telephone Lines Limited engages in extensive city work. Re modelling the plant they remove wires on Louis street and Armstrong avenue. They string about six thousand feet of new cable and move the local switch board upstairs installing a larger board to serve 150 more subscribers. The improvements aim to provide better service and fewer local troubles.
Town topics note the Model Variety Store opening lineup of Xmas toys and a regular bargain counter. Visitors include Miss Fraser of Vancouver and Mrs Ingles of Winnipeg. A Dancing club party and Y M C A events are mentioned along with orders for cut flowers and potted plants.
