Labor Day Prizes and Events Planned in Cranbrook
The Cranbrook Labor Day committee has raised about 1882.50 with city funds to prize contests and new features. Prizes include 25 for best decorated business hall and 15 for best decorated residence. Contest entries for residence decorations must be filed by September 1 with the committee secretary. The schedule includes pony races, Indian contests, lumber events, boxing and track events, and a gun club prize pool of 380. A lacrosse game between Cranbrook and Lethbridge is set for August 20 in Frank.

City Council Adopts Leave Of Absence And Labor Day Grant

Narrow Escape for Jeweler Fleishman at U S Border
Jacob Fleishman jewelry salesman narrowly escaped being stopped as a suspected diamond smuggler at the border. Two U S secret service agents pursued him after a tip, but Fleishman had already left Elkmouth for a few days of fishing. The agents later learned their quarry had returned and pursued him through the brush, only to be misled when he departed the next morning.
