Miss Helen Worden of Cranbrook B C gave a piano recital at the Toronto Conservatory of Music on April 16. Her program included Beethoven Chopin Grieg Moszkowski Godard and Debussy with a strong technique and refined tone. The audience acclaimed her and she received several bouquets. Edith Champion sang Schumann Willan and Marx between piano numbers.

The district convention of school teachers held at the Central school last Friday afternoon drew about fifty attendees from Cranbrook Kimberley and surrounding areas. After a two month suspension the Sunday departure from Nelson to Vancouver resumes. Summer schedule restores all trains west of Nelson and boats on the Arrow and Slocan lakes. Through steamer from Arrowhead to Robson connects with Nelson etc. and Slocan service returns to ordinary daylight local schedule.

Open Season On Fish Yarns At Cranbrook Lakes
Reports from Cranbrook on April 5 indicate strong fishing luck at Premier Lake and Rock Lake. The Clapp Gray Campbell party led with a 25 pound fish and total catch of 108 pounds, plus several hooks missed. Other anglers at Horseshoe and nearby waters landed notable catches including 20 pound and 27.5 pound fish. Mrs Watson and Mrs Staples added nine to eleven pounders.

Fire Destroys Walker Home Near Mission Road
A Saturday morning fire destroyed the home and belongings of Alexander B. Walker three to four miles from the city on Mission road near the old Lamont ranch. The blaze started in the shingles and, despite efforts, the elderly owner could not contain it, leaving about eight hundred dollars in loss. Investigators are examining the case. Walker’s three acre ranch adjoins the Standard Ranch of Lamont, recently purchased from Lamont.
