Drought Aid Fund Doubled by Volunteer Drive Across Districts
A state fundraising effort seeks £2,000,000 to aid drought struck farmers and grazers with £1.25 million already subscribed. Public school teacher J P Ward offers to campaign midwinter to secure broad support, urging residents to invest from £10 up via local bank branches to back government relief. Local growers report record maize prices due to fodder demand, while drought relief funding faces slow uptake despite apparent generosity.
