Memorandum from Guizot on Eastern Question and European Powers
The Augsburg Gazette reprints M Guizots memorandum to Lord Palmerston dated July 24 1840 arguing France seeks peace and opposes forceful partition of the Turkish empire while warning of insurrections in Lebanon and uncertain means among the four powers. It also notes Marshals Soult and Bourquenets Paris dispatch about Ottoman integrity and European concord.
