Army Letter on Funeral Expenses for War Hospitals
War Office notice dated August 7 1816 to the Army Medical Board warns that Purveyors connected with General Hospital establishments must itemize funeral expenses when notifying death to the corps. The Purveyor may bear losses if charges for funerals are omitted. The regulation will be circulated to Commanding Officers and officers must notify casualties within ten days of the trench casualties.
