Militia sergeants reduced under 1835 Order in Council
At the Court at St James's on September 9 1835 an Order in Council directs reductions in Militia disembodied staff. Sergeants, not including sergeant majors, are to be reduced on October 10 1835 in specified proportions, not exceeding half the August 1815 establishment. The schedule lists regiments with three fourths, two thirds, one half and one third reductions across Great Britain and Ireland, with names of counties and units. The Right Honourable Lord John Russell to issue directions.
