Naval Court advises mercy not to be expected
Fragmentary report covers trials and sentences from a naval court martial and civil notices. It notes Richard Giford pleading guilty to forgery and impersonation, plus sentences for a prize fight killing and a murder acquittal. It also lists bankruptcies, insolvencies, dividends, and appointments, with various legal notices and promotions.
Stirring Claim Over Med burnished Seagoing Honors and Orders
A naval officer recounts the Navarin battle and subsequent orders, arguing that official dispatches and a general order support his actions as commander of the Genoa and justify wear of honors. He notes misstatements in a Vice Admiral's letters and asserts his conduct remained proper under wartime authority and royal recognitions.
