Nottingham Castle Fire and Nottingham Riots Report

The Norwich Chronicle notes a massive fire destroying the Nottingham castle on a rock above town and a silk mill blaze at Beeston with over 300 workers unemployed. Disturbances include armed patrols, arrests, casualties, and the town closing shops at dusk as authorities restore order.

University Officers Elected and Lectures Planned

The Norrisian Professor of Divinity begins a 25 lecture course next Thursday the 20th inst. Lectures run every Thursday Friday and Saturday during the term. On Monday the 10th inst. officers were elected for the year including Procrons Musgrave Currie Monreratons Martin Bowstead Scrvratons Kirby Ash Calthorp Townsend. Caput for the year named the Vice-Chancellor and other senior officers. Degrees conferred on the 30th inst. Names include Crauford Longueville Jones Delme Radcliffe and others. Sir Hubert Gordon returns from Constantinople aboard the Acteon. Marquis of Abercrombie arrived at Argyll House from Scotland.

Tattersall’s Octozea 1832 Epsom meeting weather ruinous

At Epsom on the October meeting the day’s poor weather reduced attendance and dull sport. Prendergast and Clearwell Stakes produced no result. Stakes results show Mr Gardner’s Whalebone winner in the Epsom Stakes, Pandora by Mr Ongley in the Metropolitan Stakes, and Lumley’s Farce triumphing in the 20 sovs Sweepstakes.
