Arrival of the Earl of Dalhousie in Leith
The frigate Challenger brought Earl of Dalhousie and party from Quebec to Leith Roads. A twelve oared gig conveyed them ashore at Newhaven before their coaches to Dalhousie Castle. Cannon salutes and crowds marked the landing as the vessel had been at sea 23 days. Curiosity grows over the author of The Anglo Irish.
