Russian Ambassador Presents Gifts to Sultan and Princes
In Constantinople the Russian ambassador presented a jeweled sabre to the Sultan and song of the Sultan to two princes as gifts from the Emperor. A fire broke out near Rumili Kawak, destroying several houses including a bazaar and a mosque. The powder magazine nearby raised alarm, but the garrison saved it. The capital's sanatory state remains poor.
