Arrival of the Great Western at Bristol on return voyage
The Great Western arrived near Bristol on Saturday evening from New York after a fourteen day passage. It brought 100,000 pounds in specie, a large mail, and 137 passengers including Mr Charles Kean and Miss Clifton. The voyage out was seventeen days with a gale from day one. The issue includes New York and Montreal papers up to March, plus notes on the Whig National Convention in Baltimore, boundary questions, and market distress in Wall Street with bank strains and debentures.
