Bere Eastern Railway Call of Five Pounds Per Share

Train wreck on the Loxeey and South Western Bat

A serious railway accident occurred Sunday when an engine left the rails five miles from Winchester. The engine driver and stoker were killed. A second class lady passenger suffered severe toe injuries. a gentleman’s servant was cut on the forehead. Other passengers mostly escaped with minor injuries. An inquest will seek the offender believed to have sabotaged the rail. The Earl of Dandonald was among passengers and testified to proper conduct.

Pawned watch theft case at Farnival’s Inn court

Thomas Palmer, a hawker from Reading and Slough, faces remand after being charged with stealing a silver watch from Mr. Dunbar of Farnival’s Inn. Dunbar, while drunk, grabbed the suspect as six or seven men attacked him near Jacob’s Well. the watch vanished as police arrived.

William Thiste, a respectable applicant, faced an indictment for misdemeanour on behalf of the City of London, accused of driving diseased cows to a public market and a market for human food. The jury found him Not Guilty. John Biske was tried for assault on Wm Barnett aboard the Helena near Conception Bay. the jury returned Not Guilty after conflicting testimony about who struck first and threats with a pistol.
