Navy Biscuit Sale Tender Notice 1814 Plymouth

The Commissioners for Pictualling His Majestys Navy announce on May 9 1814 a sale by tender of fifteen thousand bags of biscuit at Plymouth. Tenders in sealed writing due by Friday the 27th instant with deposits, payment and delivery terms, inspection by appointment, and attendance required for bids. Also Paymaster notice for coals contracts at Chatham Portsmouth Plymouth Woolwich with tender conditions and bonding. A speech by George Rose noted in London prints.

Antwerp Evacuated French Fortifications Fall to Allies

London Gazette May 10 1814 reports that Antwerp and its forts were evacuated by French troops under Paris terms. British 1st and 7th divisions occupied the fortress with military honours, while Mayor presented keys to General Kunigl. Royal Navy and army promotions and appointments follow, including St Vincent appointed Admiral of the Royal Marine Forces and various lieutenant and major postings.
