The Corn Exchange notes large unsold wheat and barley with dull mealing trade while Monday’s wheat samples fetched prices. Haymarket reports mixed hay and straw prices, moderate supply, dull trade. Coal Market shows ample supply with limited demand. Best Wall’s End Coals quoted at 33s 9d to 3d per unit, ships on market at 13s 6d.
LONDON GAZETTE reports in the Crown Office a series of parliamentary seat changes. Eyre Coote fills the Clonmel vacancy left by Slamek Fawquattey Dawson who took Chiltern andres, Arthur Plankett Lord Killeen is seated for Meath, succeeding the Earl of Bective who became Marquis of Headford. Insolvency declarations list multiple tradesmen and trades, with dates in late February to early March. Bankruptcy notices follow for Ellis Price Sutton and others, with assembly and solicitor details. Dividends and certificats for numerous creditors and traders are recorded, along with partnerships dissolutions across various cities. Scottish sequestration of Messrs Scarth Pillans and Co. in Leith is noted.
Births include a son to Mrs Playfair in Dorset square and a son to the Lady of Sir Grenville Temple in Florence. Marriages record Robert Howard Shepard Enq marrying Alicia Dankin of Torrington square. R. Peyton Sadler RN wed Catherine Barnard at the British Ambassador’s Chapel. Died notes Frances Rachel Wood Eng of Littleton, age unknown, after a long illness. Eliza Calcraft aged eleven months at Eaton Place.
The House debated laying before the Majesty copies of last reports on Irish revenue collection and English revenue, agreed to. Lord Shaftesbury moved a second reading of the Consolidated Fund Bill with amendments. Petitioners from Salop iron and coal interests urged free trade to India and track system suppression. Marquis of Bute presented a mass petition across agricultural and middle classes for repealing taxes on beer and related goods. Mr Plowden from Leeds submitted an account of emoluments of Supreme Court officers in India. Adjourned.
The House balloted on the Wexford Election petition as Mr Dyson announced a Commission to try the merits.
