Double tragedy at Segrais over 10000 francs theft
The Marquis de Lagarde, living at the Chateau of Segrais, faced a robbery two years earlier. He expelled his servants’ family, causing destitution. A son, desperate after repeated passport refusals, shot the Marquis and killed himself, dying days later in Paris. The head wound showed a ball had been chewed before entering the skull.
