Leeds Chartist meeting clashes over O'Connell visit
In Leeds yesterday the Whig Radicals and Chartists staged parallel demonstrations for household suffrage and the People’s Charter. O'Connell was controversial. Chartists planned an outdoor welcome while others hosted a large meeting at Marshall’s mill in Holbeck with speeches urging universal suffrage and reform.
