Notice from January 1842 for Prince of Wales ceremony at Slough. Special trains and tracks or horse boxes to be reserved from Paddington by January 24. Details point to morning departures by eight thirty and evening connections, with further guidance at Paddington.
In the Court of Chancery at Jax Ward v. Alsager was heard as the Solicitor General resumed his argument for the plaintiff G H Ward who denied responsibility for the loss of a trust fund due to W Ward or the instrument. He pressed his brother to secure the fund and sought arbitration under Justice Patteson who judged time should be given, prompting hopes of absolving the plaintiff from negligence. The court delayed verdict to consider this judgment.
The court resumed the motion against William Tindall for breach of an injunction over cocoa nut oil and candle patents. It found a breach though not grounds for commitment, with next steps postponed to give Tindall time to act. The decision discussed carrier liability under the act and upheld the ruling in favor of the plaintiff.
The Queen's Bench delivers multiple verdicts including Waters v. Baronet Of Thanet affairs on statute of limitations for old bills, Green v. Murray on demand for delivery of a share, and Hinton v. Dibbin on common carrier liability. Also Habeas Corpus in Cavannahs case and libel cases against Southampton and Brighton papers.
The court debates the Bank rate, six percent, and who should testify. Mr Mardon plans to call Cooke and Gladstone, while Humphrey argues their testimony could shape the bank's balance sheet. The session adjourns to Wednesday as Mr Wheeler may be summoned to the Isle of Wight.
