Vast English estate and factory sale near Alderton and London

An auction sale offers the Alderton manor and adjoining farms totaling about 1900 acres with glebe excluded. Court of King’s Bench Trovier Case Over Box of Deeds

In a trover action by William Lobbert executor of Miss Boxall against Messrs Clutton Calter, attorneys, the court heard that a box containing deeds remained with Clutton who demanded an inventory. The judge held an executor need not inventory the contents, a verdict for the plaintiff for 40s was recorded with leave to move to set aside or return the box.

Libel suit over Morning Chronicle publication in Westminster court

In Westminster, the libel case Libel Stockley v Clement proceeded with pleadings. The plaintiff, a coal merchant, claimed 6000 from Dowager Lady Page Turner, after a bill of exchange dated May 26 1825 was drawn to settle prior debts, with the defendant publisher denying the libel claim.

Liberty of the press and libel in a swindling case
