The Thames Tunnel offers daily access from 9 am to 6 pm except Sundays. Admittance is one shilling and entry is on the Surrey side near Rotherhithe Church. The tunnel is 140 feet long and lit with gas, with visitors now allowed to pass beneath the river to approach the Shield. By order, J. Charlier, Clerk to the Company.
