Court of Common Pleas Dublin Adultery Damages Case
In Guthrie v Sterne the common pleas hear a motion to set aside a verdict for 5000 damages in a criminal conversation action. Burrows argues the damages are excessive and the court has discretion to set aside such verdicts, citing precedents from Henry IV onward. Sceptre of Edward the Confessor Found Hidden in Historic Regalia
The object, believed to be more than 750 years old and possibly the original sceptre of Edward the Confessor, was found last year behind a massive aged oak press. Its ornate gold body is studded with diamonds and gems, topped by a white onyx dove and cross. The author suspects it was concealed during Charles I’s era and restored recently as part of the royal jewels. The note also advertises Anti-Attrition shoe polish for walking shoes and boots.
