Public Correspondence Between Lords and Captains in 1837
An extended facet of 1837 letters shows Joan Lovesey and Captain Berkeley trading requests for meetings and apologies as a dispute over alleged slander unfolds. The exchange includes a secondhand summary of related letters from Mr Wason and Captain Kelly, with a mix of formal tone and public posting. The Ipswich and Taunton notices note further commentaries on the affair and a humorous court-house wig episode.
