Cotton and trade notices from a bustling market page
The market reports linger in a languid mood with limited cotton sales. Prices shift slightly as new export activity emerges. Sugar, coffee, and oil markets show modest fluctuations amid a cautious trading week. London papers note Parliament debates on reforms and public notices.

Reform Motion Attacks Corruption of Representation
An orator denounces the corrupt British representation, urges broadening the franchise to copyholders and leaseholders, ends septennial rule, and proposes a committee to consider England and Wales reform. He cites Crown influence, funds misused, and foreign policy failings as proof of needed change. A second speaker supports reform and criticizes government neglect of public distress.
