Liverpool Sugar and commodities report highlights strong demand
In Liverpool dated January 18 1850 sugar markets rise with 6d per cwt gains across descriptions. Porto Rico, brown Paraiba demand also firm. molasses and coffee rally with Jamaica and Ceylon sales. Cotton, bals, nitrates, gums and oils show varied activity, with brisk hides and tallow trading and firm prices in many lines.
Sugar market notes and commodity prices in Bristol
The Bristol Report reports strong demand for Raw Sugars and grocery items with a 6d per cent rise for other descriptions. West India first bands are nearly exhausted with scarce samples, while about 500 West India birds sold mainly 37s 6d to 41s 6d. Muuntius Bengali sales are depleted and foreign demand holds for higher prices. Revingo shows good demand and rising prices with Rum up 2 4 to 3d per gallon but limited first hands available.
