At Smithfield today Friday the market opened with a short supply mainly old stock. Trade was very dull across cattle and sheep with lower prices. Sheep ranged from 4s 2d to 4s 6d per stone with primes 3s 6d to 4s 2d. beasts 3s d to 3s 8d. cows 23 to 28 6d. pigs 2s 6d to 4s. calves 3s 6d to 4s 6d.
Meat markets were over supplied and prices fell. Saturday sales suffered with difficulty and markets remained uncleared. Leadenhall also showed dull trading with mutton and beef down about 2d per stone.
Sugar prices listed for British Plantation Sugar Mauritius East India and three descriptions exclusive of duty with per cwt rates. Home made Beriiep goods sold at former rates with brown grocery and standard ranges. Bonded crushed held for higher prices slowing sales with loaves selling 250 to 300 birds at 29s to 248 6d per hundredweight. Tea remains未 specified.
Trade in poultry is very dull with lower prices and ample supply across categories. French turkeys, hens, cocks, capons, fowls, chickens, geese, ducks, hares, pigeons, rabbits, eggs, butter, woodcocks, snipes, geese and widgeons are listed with varied prices across sizes from vendors.
