At the London Commercial Sale Rooms a sale of Segars tobacco rice tea and related commodities occurred with numerous lots. Prices were listed for brown and white sugar rice saltpetre pepper tea and various hard goods amid a crowded, competitive bidding environment.
The report notes arrivals and ships at various harbours with detailed cargoes. Neptune brings flax seed and butter, Harlingen's vessel carries flax and butter, Pheniz loads tallow seed flax tare and wine, while other ships carry spars, firewood, cheese, wheat, peas and sundries. Sentinel ships Patriot King and Sir C Campbell report cargoes including castor oil preserves safflower silk cow hides rice sugar and linseed. Additional notices describe Casket from Jamaica with sarsaparilla and other goods, and the Clifton from Trinidad. wreck details mention sugar, coffee, and wreckers in the Gulf of Florida.
Reading notes show shipments of mahogany at Honduras 1056 logs and St. Domingo 533 with Cuba 701 and Havannah 364 planks, along with rose colored listings. The fragment mentions Cedar Liverpool harbor and February timing in Honduras, Cuba, and Havana trade entries.
In Marseilles February prices hold firm across coffee sugar and cotton markets as shipments arrive gradually. Public sales move 222 casks of coffee and varying consignments of Porto Rico and Bourbon sugars. Cotton remains weak with some bids noted, while new lots from Louisiana and Carolina fetch limited interest. In St Petersburg 2500 boxes of yellow candy were sold for August delivery, and Hamburg reports London exchange rates and short positions.
The notice advertises applications to be made by the London Chamber of Commerce at 43 Mincing Lane. It lists subscription rates of 7 shillings 6d per quarter for town and 15 shillings 8d per quarter in the country, free of postage, printed and published by William Harcraft at 42 Imcung Lane.
