Bristol reports steady demand for raw sugar with samples well supplied this week. Sales include 600 birds and ties West India brown 59s 60s, 61s 64s, 65s 67s, 70s 71s crystal Demerara. 2000 mats Mauritius and 300 bags Bengals sold at 61s to 68s per cwt, higher than last week. Molasses sales none. Demerara rum ex ship about 40 pun sales, price undisclosed. Cloth halls trade active with metropolitan and Irish buyers. strong warehouse demand for domestic goods. Wool market remains firm with rising prices.
No material changes in transactions at the market as dealings continue on an extended scale in Fancy, Waistcoatings and fabrics for the season. Wool dealers demand higher rates, while manufacturers struggle to realize remunerating prices and merchants resist yielding.
Demand for combing wools remains strong with last week’s improved terms kept. Low clothing wools are tough at higher prices, blanket wools see little activity and prices hold steady.
