Oil and Tallow Markets Signal Mixed Activity
Linseed oil sells well at 268 9d to 278 per cwt on the spot. Pale seal dull at £35 10s per ton. Cod oil at £33 with large sales. Tallow market dull for Russian, prices hard to sustain. sellers at 4s per cwt on the spot. Town Tallow at 42s 8d per cwt nett cash with good demand.
Cotton market steadies as demand remains active in Liverpool
In Liverpool on February 9 the cotton market showed active demand from trade and speculators with prices generally advancing early in the week. In the last two days the excitement eased while quotations stayed steady. Speculators acquired 18,400 American 5,300 Surat 600 Pernambuco 100 Bahia and 20 Egyptian bales, and exporters bought 50 American and 150 Surat bales.

Market Report From Marseilles on Sugar and Coffee
In Marseilles on February 7 business in unrefined sugar was minor yet fair last week. Sales of Martinique and Guadeloupe sugar reached a few hundred birds at 57 francs middling. Bourbon trade remained brisk with 4600 bags sold at 57 4 to 58 francs per 50 kilo, while fine yellow sorts earned 2 to 3 francs more. Discount unchanged at 4 percent for 90 day bills. Carron prices rose per accounts, but sales were limited to two small parcels for our own manufactories. No other significant moves occurred.
