A long catalog of items with quantities and origins shows a bustling trade listing. Entries include sugar rice coffee pepper cloves mace coffiee cochineal indigo wool skins and numerous cargoes from Siam Java St Domingo Mauritius Mauritius Mauritius and New York among others with dates Feb 12 to Mar 26 noted for various lots.
The derain lines report Java and Sumatra cargoes, Weat India mail arrivals with Barbados and Jamaica dates, and Lyra packet from Brazil. Sugar prices fluctuated with 2000 bags traded last week, Terra sugar entering home use, and coffee markets steady amid 15009 bags stock. Shipments totaling 88,750 bags are recorded for the month.
Markets closed in Livonia on Monday with no business in any department. Tea traders arrived early to check for the overland Mail but departed after learning it had not arrived. Continental arrivals included two Wrenth, two Pland ers, three Holland, one West India, and one Brazil Mail. Halifax mail due.
Sparse wheat show from neighboring counties as town millers paid high prices. Foreign wheat unchanged. Flour prices steady. Barley scarce but fine varieties sold. other types unsold. Mali virtually no sales. oats limited with high asking prices. Beans sold at former terms. peas moved slowly but not cheaper.
Shipping notices list multiple vessels arriving and departing with cargoes of cotton coffee mahogany and merchandise. Entries include The Eucles The Beatrice The King William and 1576 bales upland cotton among others sailing from Canton Demerara and Ceylon with ports including Beachy Head Point de Galle and Mauritius and off Liverpool Cork Guernsey Glasgow and Belfast with goods such as cotton, coffee, madder, brimstone, and minerals.
Shipping and commodity prices dominate the report with sugar coffee and rum quotes across Jamaica Antwerp and Havre. Cotton sales in Antwerp include 72 bales Conisiana at 40 cents and 400 bales New Orleans and Mobile at various prices. Prices for Coffee hold firm while unrefined sugars see little activity. Colonial Bank and Jamaica Bank bills trade at 24 percent prem. A London Chamber of Commerce notice appears at the end along with publication details.
