Hull on February 8 reports arrivals of linseed at 3920 barrels with prices 6d to 1s lower and mixed sales for various grades. Linseed oil firm but with active market. spring and six months futures quoted. Rape oil in very active demand though stock held for higher prices. Hull crushed and town pale prices listed. Olive oil nominally higher. Cakes sales weak. linseed stock rising. taxxton dull and lower.
In Glasgow February market notes traders report active sugar and sugar futures with small advances, West India cargoes at 6d, 3000 bags Pernams 34g to 34a-6d, 18s 6d for cargo afloat, Mauritius at 36s. Crushed sugar active 1d to is advance, Tattow and Corron prices moving, yarns cleared at full prices, money in healthy demand due to large colonial export trade.
St Petersburg reports brisk activity with flax and hemp goods and admiralty stores showing varied prices. Buyers seek 400 to 500 tons at multiple prices, while 125 tons of good quality stock remains for dealers. Admiralty goods and Cadillac cadmium stocks appear with high cash values amid weak overall demand and dull sales projected for August. Record levels of winter stocks and detained navigation add to the inventory, with flax, Cadilla, and other commodities listed in thousands of units and casks.
