Long inventory of commodities including sugar coffee pepper sago cochineal and dyes with quantities in bags chests and bales. Entries list Bombay Ceylon Java Brazil Mauritius Bengal and otherEast India trade goods alongside tea coffee wool indigo and oils with ship arrivals and market notes.
Cotton demand fair but prices declined 1d to 4d amid plenty of supply. Sugar dull with sales to 58s Gd. Tobacco and oils mixed. coffee and ginger steady. Severe market weakness across commodities. Liverpool reports heavy cotton stock and dull foreign trade while shares show limited buoyancy.
Bristol report notes cautious trade with limited purchases since last update. About 500 bags Mauritius and 600 casks West India sold, prices generally 6d lower except for better qualities, which remain scarce. Rum trade is slow with little activity.
Sucar market shows steady activity with Martiniques and Guadeloupes bought by refiners at 32 fr, Cayennes at 30 fr, and Porto Rico at 25 fr. Cargoes sold on delivery include 4000 bags Bourbon at 61 fr and 30 birds Martinique at 32 fr. Prices for yellow St. Yago and Havannah varied, while Cortex, St. Domingo, and rice markets show subdued activity. Money easy but bills scarce. several European markets noted as firm or dormant.
