In Marseilles on December 9 the sugar market shows little movement for eight days with minimal sales of stock. Freight and bond prices rose slightly after the Quattre Freres cargo sold at 32 ft per 50 kg, and 50 birds at the same rate. Bourbon sugar trading was limited and yellow Havannah boxes sold at 22 to 24 fr per 50 kg in bond. Rice remained steady for local use. United States cotton prices rose after the American Mail suggested crops under 800,000 bales, boosting Havre prices, leading to modest gains but constrained by high pretensions from holders.
