A Friday evening ball at Lambell's Assembly Rooms hosted by local Birregurra groups drew about sixty couples with flags, ferns, and evergreens decorating the hall. Refreshments were arranged, a balance of £2 2s was voted to Birregurra Reading Room, and plans for an upcoming event were discussed as proceeds support the railway station fund.
A large gathering at Alfred Hall led by Mayor Claxton urged extending the railway from Scarsdale to Beeno to connect Ballarat with the Otway forests. Delegates from Colac and nearby towns supported the plan, predicting strong district traffic and a likely legislative push.
