Robbery Under Arms at Vaucluse Richmond
Two armed masked men robbed the Richmond home of Mr and Mrs Baker and servant Ada Poulteney after forcing entry at about three in the morning. They searched rooms, stole jewellery valued at over £50, and warned the occupants not to stir for hours. The assailants wore spotted handkerchiefs, used a revolver and torch, and displayed chilling composure during the raid. The family cooperated, recovering a brooch and ring after requests, and the maid remained menaced but unharmed. The milkman and a barking dog briefly interrupted the incident.
