Damaged contract tale on city stock sale and tragic ship incident
A Tuesday contract sale of city stock by Hendy Leary and Co. is described alongside a maritime accident aboard the steamer Tiurrrwateet. John Nam, a Aissars employee, fell overboard and died after efforts to rescue him failed. Eyewitnesses and officials recall a bystander attempting to save Nam but the sea claim ended tragically with the vessel’s crew and nearby workers witnessing the incident.
