Roman Catholic Bazaar Opens at Oddfellows Hall

The bazaar was opened at Oddfellows Hall with numerous stalls showcase of crewel work, glassware, lace, and embroidery. Mrs Willis and Mrs Marshall led key displays while Mr Robertson MP spoke on supporting the new church and clearing its debt.

Bazaar Opens as Auctioneer Praises Goods for Sale

The inspector praised the Vatalla collection of valuable articles and announced the bazaar open. Rev Nolan led a cheer for Mr Robertson before the sale began as ladies and gentlemen queued to purchase the elegant items.

Inverleigh Races Results and Disqualifications

About 700 spectators witnessed Inverleigh races. Native Camille won the heath race, Jack Sprat led early but was disqualified along with Forlorn and owner Coogan for twelve months, barring him from amateur riding. Gazallo won the low stakes event for Mr. Dalton at thirteen pounds. Various riders and horses are listed with minor placings and entries.

A Colac case recalls Thomas Morris who deserted his wife and five children after family poverty followed by a public relief appeal. Morris returned, offered no support, was arrested at Lilydale, and the children were sent to an Industrial School. Licenses for vineyard stills were issued nearby. Commemorative cards for Prince Lespard arrived with school remarks on loyalty to the Queen.
