Coffs Urban Committee held a Monday meeting with all members present to discuss the delayed 12000 loan and its impact on Orlando Street repairs. Bus operator F Hammon urged urgent road work, noting broken springs and unusable service from Jetty to Park Beach without trafficable access.
The Coffs Orara Co op Dairy Society sold the unused Coramba factory to M Faw Pty Ltd, a Sydney manufacturing firm. The company will install plant and start processing fruit lesete and manufacture soon. The new industry is expected to stimulate local vegetable and fruit growing.
The managing director Mr Macdonald stated production would start on a full scale by month end at Coffs Harbour Brick and Tile Company. A 75 hp electric motor was delivered and installed this week with other plant units due in ten days. Bulldozers prepared pits for new kilns and ovens while hand-made bricks show excellent quality.
