Borrowing urged to fix failing Shire roads and bridges
Dr. Harry Bailey urged the Dorrigo Shire Council to borrow funds to repair all weathering of minor roads amid halved government endowments and rising costs. He cited 82 miles of road in his riding with insufficient funds to fix even one mile properly. Other officials warned borrowing could draw petrol tax and federal aid, while a proposal for a £25 000 grant was proposed as an alternative.
