Mr Seymour warns of possible electricity blackouts in New South Wales due to a wartime generation shortfall. The plan interconnects stations, divides the North Coast into sections, and schedules eight to twelve hours notice via local radio when load shedding occurs to prevent outages during peak hours.
Bellingen Shire Council plans a 40000 pound loan for a Sawtell water supply scheme. The loan will be drawn as needed with interest added to the principal. Repayment starts six months after the full amount is received, with half yearly installments.
The Department of Supply and Development replies that 8 and 10 gauge plain wire and barb wire output should rise as Lysaghts restart mills. Skelp remains supplied by Stewarts and Lloyds from BHP. In iron, progress is limited. only labor increases could raise light gauge production. Monthly letter from Raleigh District Council secretary R A Napier notes the situation.
