The Assistant Engineer Lionel Fowler proposed an estimate of £250 for new road work. Sections of the streets are untrafficable, with works set to begin as soon as possible. Priority items include Mildura Street and the Victoria Street incline to the beacon, with possible funds from general reserves if loan funds fall short.
A sub committee including G England G A Patterson and H J Lovett will draft a garden and footpath competition schedule for the Urban Committee in spring. It will outline forming a Horticultural Society to run town garden contests and the district annual show flower section. The society may also host seasonal flower shows and other exhibitions.
J Taylor of the Ratepayers Association urged identification of who cleaned the street and who should be responsible. Urban Committee member G England said responsibility shifts between the Shire Council Health Officer and the Urban Committee, criticizing the setup and the ignored Governor visit. The association moved to have the Shire Council transfer street cleaning responsibility to the Urban Committee, and the motion carried.
Reporters note frequent catches of large jewies and fishermen say it is difficult to obtain casting room at favored spots due to growing crowds and competition near productive fishing areas.
