Dorrigo Shire Urgent Minor Works Requests
At the latest Orders of the Day meeting Councillors urged urgent minor works across the Shire. Dr Boultwood called for brushing on the Orara near McGrath's. Dr Featherstone pressed for urban road works and a share of Federal Aid Roads funds for towns, arguing urban areas pay rates yet receive little grant relief. The Shire Clerk noted the funds are rural only. Dr Hooson sought river gravel for Tallawadjah Creek crossings and grading on Kungala Road. Drainage near Glenreagh box mill and East Bank Road delays were flagged, as well as Coramba Deviation preliminaries. Widening Abe Mountain progress remained unlikely. Other items included modifying Gundagai Street in Coffs Harbour, and grader work on roads to Fred Channells’ properties and Coramba Road near Clissold, with concerns about Kikuyu grass spread. Requests also covered Mildura Street gravel, the Secomb Orara area, and a need for planks at a Bo Bo bridge.

Urgent Move to Speed Pasteurisation Charge for Coffs Milk
Raleigh District Council of the PPU pressed for faster processing of the pasteurisation charge for Coffs milk suppliers. Delegates from Coffs District urged action due to price disparities between zone dairymen and country producers and sought a threepence per gallon increase to cover pasteurisation costs. The council decided to telegram the General President urging prior determination and report on delays.
