Commonwealth Loan Shows Strong Early Progress and Conversions

Progress reports after two weeks of the Commonwealth loan indicate robust activity. March loan conversions total £1,125,000 with new cash subscriptions near £1,660,000 and about 4000 December holdings converted to £4,079,000. Redemption requests appear limited while £92,000 of bonds are ready for immediate payment. With £1,10,000 available from the sinking fund and £2,000,000 in cash subscriptions, many holders will be paid off and conversion requests urged, as the Melbourne Stock Exchange chairman notes heavy loan commitments this year and strong financial self reliance amid global difficulties.
