Strong rebuke at meeting over gossip about the Show Society

The secretary Mr W R Graham delivered a blunt rebuke to members who discuss society affairs on streets and criticise the Women’s Auxiliary. Mrs J Auld had raised concerns about the Auxiliary books which Mr Graham and Mr N J Jordan defended as well kept and balanced to the penny. President E P Fogarty lauded the Auxiliary’s support and called for an end to outside criticism.

Memorial Club Nears Completion

Work on the Memorial Club is almost finished as the interior takes a very attractive form and members are expected to be pleased with their new club once completed.

Brightening C of C Meetings Discuss Social Activities

At the Coffs Chamber of Commerce meeting members debated adding social events to boost attendance. Mr M Cooper urged social activity as a practical way to unite members, citing Burwood Chamber examples. President N Jordan supported the idea ahead of next month’s annual meeting.

Fewer Excursion Passengers Draw Attention to Fares

Mr H S Lovett informed the Colts Harbour Chamber of Commerce that he urged the Railway Commissioner to review rising excursion fares from Grafton and Kempsey. Members planned to write to Mr Gar to back Lovett’s action and note the sharp drop in passengers to Colts Harbour and Park Beach. They urged the fares revert to previous levels.
