Coffs Harbour Surf Carnival A Silver Jubilee Spectacle

The Coffs Harbour Surf Life Saving Club held its Silver Jubilee Surf Carnival at Park Beach attracting a large crowd despite transport withdrawals. Eight teams from Woolgoolga to Kempsey Crescent Head competed under ideal supervision with strong performances from South West Rocks and the Mills brothers. Grand Parade saw Kempsey Crescent Head first, SWR second, and Coffs Harbour third as finals produced multiple event wins and point totals.

Paspalum Seed Goes up in Smoke

Mr Ray Fowler of Frederickton near Kempsey loses 1500 pounds worth of paspalum seed with cleaning plant and gear in a fire last Tuesday night. The seed was uninsured and delayed by coal strike shipping problems. The seed harvesting machines survived, allowing continued operations once seed is cleared.
