Coffs Harbour High School Posts New Enrolment Record

Annual Speech Day reports a school enrolment of 620 348 boys and 272 girls, with 271 pupils enrolled this year mostly in First Year. Leaving Certificate 1947 had 29 candidates with 23 passes, best by Jim Wright in Mathematics. 79 Intermediate Certificate applicants, 61 passes, and notes on pathways to university or college.

Coffs Diggers Plan to Foster British Ex-Serviceman

Coffs Diggers at a monthly meeting agreed to foster a British Ex-Serviceman desiring to settle in Australia. The man, a mechanical engineer, will be housed by his brother-in-law Digger George Williams. The group will forward the official nomination to RSL Headquarters.

Visiting character warned off at Scone carnival

A visiting man at the Scone carnival pinned a badge on locals and demanded 2s for the League. Police warned him off as victims paid money to the wrong organization, with funds benefiting the con man rather than the Returned Soldiers' League.

CWaA Stall Raises funds and prizes awarded at meeting

The stall by the CWaA netted £9 17s 1d for the funds. Mrs R W Sharpe won the £1 trophy and Miss T Tutton Boambre took a duck prize. Thanks extend to all helpers.
