Surf Club Carnival Shines at Park Beach Carnival

Park Beach hosted the 27th annual Coffs Surf Club carnival under ideal weather with Yamba and Coffs Harbour leading strong showings. Star swimmer Jacky Mills dominated the senior events while Yamba swept the junior belts and relays, earning praise for organization and crowd appeal.

Ex-Coffs Girl Marjorie Jackson Breaks sprint record

Ex-Coffs Harbour schoolgirl Marjorie Jackson now with her parents at Lithgow set a new Australian 100 yards record running 10.9 seconds in both heat and final. She led Beulah Chick at halfway and finished ahead of Betty McKinnon with Lorna McKenzie third and Marlene Mathews fourth. The performance drew praise and speculation she could equal the world record of 10.8 seconds.

Sow Gashes Man's Leg on Tayor's Arm Farm

Mr. Tom Mulvihill received ten stitches for a severe leg gash after a sow attacked him at Tayor's Arm farm last week. He had been feeding the sow with milk and freed a piglet wedged between her legs. After treatment at Namusca District Hospital at Macksville, he was discharged.
