A Roard meeting drew large attendance to discuss a proposed deviation for the North Coast Railway. Chairman M McCorquodale led a motion to petition the Minister to alter the line from Macksville to Bowraville via Shicket's Creek and South Arm Bellinger to Bellingen. A committee with the Bellingen League will draft the petition. McCorquodale elected president, C Mosely secretary, P Maloney treasurer. Twenty two new members joined, signaling growing support.
A miner Albert Hulmer fell ill with suspected appendicitis. Dr Muscio advised urgent hospital transfer on a stretcher. Twenty miners volunteered. fifteen carried him 17 miles to Emunilly, arriving near sunrise. An operation succeeded and Hulmer progresses well.
Mr T Martin disposed of the Muniplen Hotel at Corambs to Harry Thompson late of Kyngle and formerly of the Great Northern Motel South Grafun. This is the hotel over which there was litigation recently.
A new spareshell and society initiation were planned after a New Year sports event. Officers including Mr McLean Mesurs Moorhead and McKay were appointed to organize the programme with prize money just over 440. A ball will be held at the School of Arts on the Sparta evening to benefit Raleigh District Hospital.
A Casino gathering chaired by Mr. Fy Cromeh discussed timber pricing. M Lean argued higher log timber rates reflect fodder and general cost advances, aiming to provide loggers a decent living. The group approved a price increase by Lyper 1Nott and tasked A McLean Gould and T Lanwaster to interview wood dealers about the change.

A separate Dorrigo Shire severance issue was discussed, with calls to seek council replies and public input before any boundary changes.
