The annual report shows salary hikes and higher purchasing costs at the District Hospital. General hospital expenditure reached £21,862 with 1,171 inpatients and 1,518 outpatients, while maternity totals were £6,926 with 367 inpatients and 300 births at Sunnyside. Daily bed cost remained just under the prior year.
Arrangements are under way for Cow & Gate Ltd to supply pasteurised milk in bottles to Coffs Harbour. The service is planned to start in January 1951 with new bottling premises at the butter factory on Coffs Jetty. Eng land pasteurising equipment has arrived in Sydney. Mr. G. M. Robertson says the service can operate without extra consumer cost if delivery costs are reduced. Cow & Gate Ltd buys the retail mile businesses of Seccombe Campbell and Cocker and takes over on Friday next September. Milk will be delivered loosely for several months while rounds are adjusted to avoid overlap. Mr. Campbell will head all retail delivery services from September 1.
