Tree crushes truck kill near Bonalbo and Tanglebung Creek

A burning roadside tree between Bonalbo and Tanglebung Creek fell on a utility truck killing Norman Beardow aged 3. William Rogah, seated beside him, escaped with minor injuries. Deceased was soon to be married. The men were returning from work when the tree struck the near side of the truck, smashing the hood and windscreen and crushing Beardow’s head. Hogan had bruises.

After long negotiation and litigation Port Macquarie Municipal Council and Mr Quast owner of the electricity franchise agree the council will buy the undertaking for £6000. Both sides bury the hatchet though the period’s arbitration left repairs and legal costs to resolve before finality.
